Don’t you hate it when you take hours to style for that perfect flat twist out, braid out, perm rod (Place in here the style you choose)? Then, you go outside and it’s like all those hours were wasted? In my mind, for some reason I was looking for the summer weather to start wearing my hair loose in the cutest styles.
But girl, let me tell you lately, I have been having more fails than successes.
Through each fail I learned what not to do so had to make sure you knew what to do. So, you don’t waste countless hours of time like I did.
- Using Gel: I know some naturalistas are against using gel. In humid weather, you need that hold that can allow your hair to last longer. In my second fail disaster, I thought I had one of those hair types that were allowed to just use a cream to hold my style. Lol, nope. Went out with a completely different look that wasn’t expected. Try Ecostyler gel or shea moisture curly gel soufflé. Those two have always worked for me.
- Let hair dry completely: Dry style equals amazing results. I would see this all the time and never really realized how true this was. Two times I took my hair out when it was about 90% dry and came out with a ponytail instead of the curl former look I was looking to strut.
- Minimize the chunkiness: My last flat twist out, I’m telling y’all, I really thought I was doing it with these chunky twists. I was trying to save time and I was sleepy as hell which is what made me try the
chunky look. Talk about it below if you tried to do a quick style in hopes it would come out right.Well, I did them too chunky where it didn’t have the definition look I was going for. If your going for definition, I recommend using smaller twists to make the definition pop for days.Chunkie twist out which left me with none defined curls
