It has been a super stressful these past couple of months with my busy toddler, work and home life all clashing together. You know exactly what comes with stress, lack of care of your tresses which turns into breakage!! It’s crazy because sometimes you realize your hair is breaking but other times you have know idea your hair is beginning to break off. It seems as though one day you look in the mirror then your hair is either thinning out or all of a sudden not as long as it used to be. When I don’t pay attention to my tresses this is exactly what happens so I want to let you know the 3 habits that we must STOP today to have our hair continue to grow, flourish and Stop Breakage.
Brushing or combing your hair while WET!!
Our hair tends to be at its weakest state when wet which can lead to more breakage. It’s best to detangle while the hair is dry or if wet make sure you have deep conditioner or enough slippage where can easily comb through the tangles. If you haven’t already check out best methods for detangling here.
When there’s a single strand knot(article) or a knot please do not pull it!!
When I would rush or would have my hair out for long period of times of course the good ole single strand knots would come. Those pesky single strand knots can be the worse and rather annoying. The worst thing to do is to just pull it so it breaks that can lead to split ends and breakage. If you need more information on single strand knots and how to get rid of them you can check that out here.
Time can go by so fast when you’re busy or stressed. If you haven’t got to take a look at the signs when you are in need of a trim you can take a closer look here. Not trimming can seem like you’re keeping the length but all it does is hurt your hair in the long run. If you feel like a professional cuts too much, there are ways you can begin to start trimming your hair yourself. It’s recommended to cut ¼ above the split end or however much you feel is needed if your hair does not have split ends. I say this because of course it’s recommended to cut of thinning ends but that could be .5 inches or 5 inches it really depends on your hair. You can check out the signs your in need of a trim here.
