What better way to start off the Power Women Series then to start with my mother. Especially this month, where we celebrate our mothers. My mother has inspired me to become the person I am today . Let’s get started with getting to know a little more about her.

Describe your natural hair journey
My natural hair journey was an experience I had my relaxer for years and it took me awhile to come to the realization that I wanted to go natural. In 2008 when I got the courage to do so, I got a haircut a.k.a BC (Big Chop) which was a shock. I had to work with getting adjusted to short hair so I had to go through my own personal process. As time went on, I started working with my hair and trying several different products to see what was the best fit for me and my hair type. I’m now at the process where I embrace my curls and kinks as long as it’s moisturized and soft to the touch I can work with it.
How do you maintain your natural hair.
I wash my hair every two weeks which works for me. I use As I Am Leave In Conditioner and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to get the feel I want. Sometimes I like to change it up to the old school Blue Magic and finish it up with Olive oil or Africas Best Ultimate Herbal Oil
Tell us about your business/goals?
I’m a business women and one of the top accountants where I currently work. My goal is to continue to work at my best for everything I do.
What were some of the obstacles you faced and how you overcame them?
I have to say one of my obstacles was getting adjusted to my natural hair. I use to have this misconception that it didn’t look right on me or that people would say something about how my hair looked. I overcame this by working on loving me which lead to me loving my natural hair even more.
What does Power of Her mean to you?
